The Hack Arizona Planning Model
The Division of Undergraduate Education facilitates and coordinates the campus community planning of Hack Arizona in a vertically integrated (all levels of institution) and horizontally distributed (all colleges) manner. Planning participants include undergraduate students, graduate students, staff, faculty, and administrators spanning any major or discipline at the university. All are welcome.
Planning Roles
- Advisors: core Hack Arizona staff, faculty, and administrators supervising student planners.
- Student Co-Chairs: lead the overall planning and implementation of Hack Arizona.
- Student Organizers: plan and implement Hack Arizona.
- Mentors: available during the fall and early spring semesters to meet with students 1-2 hours per week and via email to answer questions from their respective student planning team members.
Planning Teams
- Budget, Finance & Sponsorships: secure, sustain, and continually improve the financial health of Hack Arizona by obtaining sponsorships and managing the program budget and finances under the guidance and oversight of Undergraduate Education leadership and the Provost Business Office.
- Food & Beverage: organize, negotiate, and determine food and beverage logistics, prices, services, and meal details for Hack Arizona.
- Mentors, Judges & Prizes: recruit, coordinate, and support Hack Arizona mentors and judges, and secure prizes to incentivize participation and reward excellence in innovation.
- Schedule, Workshops & Activities: foster innovation, creativity, and collaboration among Hack Arizona participants across various academic disciplines through curated workshops, activities, and networking opportunities.
- Media, Marketing & Communications: advance the reputation and priorities of Hack Arizona by crafting and executing a comprehensive media, marketing, and communications strategy that promotes the hackathon, increases participation, and creates an engaging experience for attendees.
- Safety & Security: ensure a safe and secure environment for all Hack Arizona attendees to innovate, collaborate, and succeed by planning, implementing, and enforcing safety protocols before, during, and after the hackathon.
- Technology: seamlessly integrate technology into Hack Arizona to facilitate a successful and innovative hackathon experience for participants.
- Volunteers: assemble, engage, and empower a diverse team of dedicated volunteers who will ensure the smooth execution of every aspect of Hack Arizona.
