History

History of Hack Arizona

Hack Arizona began in 2015 led by students in academic units across the University of Arizona, including the Department of Computer Science, the School of Information, the Eller College of Management, the College of Fine Arts, and the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. Between 2015 to 2020 Hack AZ grew into the largest hackathon in the Southwestern United States. The event paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will return in 2025, ten years since the hackathon was first held. The revitalized Hack Arizona honors the hard work and dedication of past organizers and participants, building upon their institutional memory and expertise to re-establish the hackathon in a thoughtful, sustainable manner.
